I just wanted to check in with you, our readers. What have you enjoyed the most here at The Horsey Set Net? And what kind of thing would you like to see more of?

Just to be clear, I’m not out of ideas for stories.  🙂

But you may know of something that I’m clueless about. And that could be any one of a lot of things.

Like field trials. I had never heard of field trials until listens suggested I write about them.

Still, I spend a lot of time browsing the Net for interesting and fun horse stories, as well as the video and/or photos to illustrate them. As my About page says, the Pegasus Galaxy is vast. And we’ve barely explored some “continents” on this “planet.”

However, there are some types of articles that you probably won’t see here, so I hope you don’t mind. Besides, other blogs do these things much better than I ever could.

  • Tips for dealing with your horse. I’m not a trainer, although I did train one of our male cats to come running for his pill when I rattle a pill bottle by the dining room table.
  • “Me and my horse” journals. I don’t have a horse. I’m not likely to get a horse. That’s why I have a blog. It’s an easier keeper and, so far, doesn’t bite. Cheaper, too.
  • Competition results. Unless there’s a story behind the win. Like with the 80-year-old trainer who won his twelfth Melbourne Cup? Oh yeah. I’m all over that, with as much info as I can turn up before I post the story here.
  • Angry rants full of snark and vitriol. I do have opinions and express them here, but my style doesn’t bite, either. But satire? Oh, yeah, we’ve got that.  There’s an art to satire, and we like art. So, I’m likely to look for the meaning behind the Emperor’s nakedness. And if he’s probably naked because his clothes got blown off in a hurricane, I’ll point out that, too. But I’m not likely to jeer at him for being fat.

It’s a magazine, not a blog – really

My husband likens this site to CBS Sunday Morning. I’m a bit flattered. And, yes, he’s biased. We’ve watched that show from its debut 30 years ago.

But, with that comparison, he’s not far off from my intent.

In case you haven’t seen Sunday Morning, it’s a newsmagazine show that’s focused on what would be feature stories in the newspaper.

Yes, you do get news headlines. But it’s mostly human interest and feature stories. You’ll find humor, or a salute to a beautiful place or a look at an offbeat event. People we know consider the show a secular Sunday morning tradition, right along with lingering over morning coffee.

Likewise, I like for The Horsey Set Net to be a break in a reader’s busy day. A way to think about horses that’s lyrical or fun or cheeky. A little vacation. We all could use a vacation these days.

And I’m not the only horse lover who’s likely to never be able to have her own horse.
