We now take a brief break from “all ‘War Horse,’ all the time . . . “

If you can’t see the video embedded above, click here.

“Winter is coming.”  Oops. Wrong show.

Because I usually watch drama on TV, I apparently missed all the fun with the “backyard horse” Chestnut on the CBS comedy “2 Broke Girls.”

Back in the day, Chestnut won blue ribbons as a jumper, when his owner Caroline was rich. Now she’s broke, working as a waitress (in stiletto heels) and sharing an apartment with co-worker Max.

Of course, you probably noticed – Chestnut is a bay.

That said, ordinarily, this show would be a ripe target for the Horse Movie Drinking Game. A horse in a courtyard in the city outside a supposedly seedy apartment? Most box stalls are larger. Although the courtyard is big enough for Chestnut and a patio set.

Considering the girls are broke, there’s no telling what leftovers from the diner they brought home for Chestnut.

Anyhoo … sometimes, you just have to suspend the disbelief, kick back and have some fun. Especially for comedy.

And as a friend recently pointed out, the only possession Caroline saves when she becomes homeless? Her horse. Think about it. We hear so many stories in the news of abandoned horses. Well, this one wasn’t. He wasn’t sold for quick cash, either.

I finally caught episode 11, in which Chestnut’s owner Caroline, formerly rich but now broke and working as a waitress, must find a home for Chestnut in the winter. Her room-mate, street-wise co-worker Max has a plan.

You’ll probably be able to watch the episode on the 2 BROKE GIRLS page on the CBS website for the next several weeks, at least up to the New Year. The title is “And the Reality Check.”

Otherwise, you’ll have to catch it in the usual post-air outlets.
