Actor John Forsythe, famous for his patrician roles, passed away recently.  Best known as the corporate titan Blake Carrington on TV’s “Dynasty, ” he was also the voice of Charlie in “Charlie’s Angels.”

But Forsythe was also an angel to horse racing.

An owner, racetrack executive and race fan, Forsythe was also the regular host for the Eclipse Awards in the 1980s.

He won an Eclipse himself in 1988 for his contributions to thoroughbred racing.

He also is a past recipient of the Big Sport of Turfdom Award, given by turfwriters.
