In the world of “horses and culture,” the passing of best-selling, award-winning thriller author Dick Francis has been a Very Big Deal.
If you usually read updates to this blog through an RSS feed reader, then you’ve missed all the links I’ve found and added to my previous post, the Dick Francis tribute.
Of all the links there, one of my favorites is from mystery writer Laura Crum about her memories of her “pen pal” relationship with Francis. Her post is not to be missed. Neither is Megan Smith’s tribute.
Aintree, the site of the famous Grand National, has said that it will name a race in honor of Dick Francis. I think at least one US track should do the same.
To reach this goal, I’ve been hammering away on Twitter with the hashtag #NameUSrace4DickFrancis.
If you’re not familiar with Twitter, let alone with the use of hashtags, the # symbol helps followers track a thread across Twitter.
