Just to make sure you don’t miss out, here’s a brief summary of some horse news that came over Twitter in the past month. If you’re not familiar with Twitter, here’s a refresher

… which explains why I don’t whip up a blog post about each one. Some news could be about events happening Right Now, but for whatever the reason, I just can’t get up a blog post in time.
Anyway, here’s a sampling of what has been mentioned:
- The 20th anniversary of Secretariat’s death came in early October, according to @franjurga. She announced an upcoming conference on laminitis, the condition that felled Big Red.
- Noted travel author @susanorlean gave us the heads-up that the DVR series of Mr. Ed is out. You can thank her for our recent post starring Ed. ::applause, applause::
- We learned about Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird’s stall cam feed thanks to a Tweet from his then-exercise rider @JoeTalamo. Maybe you’ve heard of him?
- Blogger Mekie, aka @pulicat on Twitter, visited Churchill Downs and gave us a nice photo essay of morning works at Churchill.
- @dappledgrey pointed us toward the Washington International Horse Show’s Facebook page.
- @michael_sargent gave us a heads-up on the Lexington, KY, Tattersall’s American Saddlebred auction, which could be watched live on pay-per-view.
- Various racing bloggers and our reader Sally (thank you!) pointed out that Barbaro’s little brother Lentenor made his racing debut at Keeneland this past weekend. Thanks to tweets by @AlexBrownRacing, we saw a photo essay of Lentenor. Tis spooky how much the little guy resembles Big Bro, especially with the same racing silks. But he got blocked in and came in third. I also saw the link to the race on Twitter.
