Horse Movie Drinking Game – Royal Pains

Heads up – we get to play “The Horse Movie Drinking Game” again starting Thursday night.

The “Royal Pains” premise

“Royal Pains” is about a young emergency room doctor who’d been fired from his hospital job in Manhattan only to find a new career in the Hamptons, as a “concierge doctor,” a house call doctor for the super rich.

You might enjoy Hank’s MacGuyver-esque approach to emergency medicine in the field. Or in the parlor. Or on the beach. Or, as in this episode, apparently in the barn.

What the promo tells us

We see in the promo that Hank’s aide Divya is wearing riding attire, so she’s either showing or, like Calleigh on that racing episode of “CSI: Miami,” showing her interest in the sport by showing up dressed to ride.

Silly me – I wear jeans or slacks with a blouse or tee when I attend equestrian events as a spectator.

So, you see, we have tantalizing possibilities for Horse Movie Drinking Game fun. Or we may get to enjoy the hour for the right reasons and not be distracted/entertained by another out-of-touch representation of the horsey life.

My opinion of the series

Either way, what you can expect with “Royal Pains” is an entertaining hour. The Hamptons are gorgeous to look at. The plots are fun. The medicine will be creative. And the characters are good company, although Hank’s brother Evan, the self-proclaimed “CFO of ‘HankMed,’ ” is supposed to be annoying. Consider yourself warned about Evan. If you want to smack him at some point — well, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Once the show airs at 10 pm EDT on Thursday, we should be able to watch the show on the website, as well as in re-airs.

What I want from you

Ha! You thought you’d just get to be passive readers. Well, you can be, if you want. It’s summer, after all.

Just to let you know, if all goes according to plan, I’m scheduled to get up early Friday to hit the road for a trip to Saratoga. My first.

So, I may miss the first airing of this episode because I’m wimpy enough that I’ll have to go to bed early that night.

Also, with that said, the only reason why I knew about this episode is because I watch the show every week and saw the promo for the upcoming episode.
