Video of Lawyer Ron/Curlin stretch battle in 2007 Jockey Club Gold Cup
Lawyer Ron was the 2007 Eclipse Champion Older Male who’d been standing at stud at Stonewall Stallions.
He was one of the co-stars of the Hennegan Brothers documentary “The First Saturday in May.”
Some of the most heart-warming scenes in the movie are with his groom Chuck Chambers. Chambers’s pride in his horse is genuine and moving.
He demonstrates how much the people who tend these horses love and admire them.
And now Lawyer Ron is gone, at age 6, to complications from colic surgery.
Our sympathies go out to his connections, both from the track and from down on the farm.
And, especially, to his old friend Chuck Chambers, who we met in a movie before he went back to work in the stable’s shadows.
