Hidden Dark, Ferdinand’s daughter, passes at Old Friends

I don’t see any reference to Hidden Dark’s passing in such horse racing media such as the Blood Horse or The Paulick Report. Granted, 1995 Florida Derby and Travers Stakes champion Thunder Gulch passed away, so he’s better known.

Also, as I read Hidden Dark’s bio on the Old Friends website, I can’t say I’m suprised she didn’t make the news, but she is part of an important story.

I posted this on Twitter. Y’all will appreciate this, probably more than my usual Twitter crowd:

Hidden Dark recently passed away in love and comfort at Old Friends Dream Chase Farm in Georgetown, KY.

The daughter of Ferdinand raced in California and didn’t run so well, nor breed fast babies, but she ended up living out her life at Old Friends.

She left us at 28.

Not “news,” I suppose, but a nice story for us.
