You probably missed this. I almost did.
The Little Brown Jug, a $650,000 harness race for 3-year-old pacers, is run annually on a Thursday afternoon at the Delaware County Fair in Ohio. CBS Sports covered the race live on its cable channel, which is where my DVR grabbed it.
In the video below, keep an eye on two horses.
The ultra-dark bay with wraparound shadow rolls and red wheels is Wiggle It JiggleIt, the favorite. (Correct spelling. And don’t freak out about his name. His sire is Mr. Wiggles.)
The other horse to watch is Lost For Words, a dark bay, whose driver wears purple and white silks.
All these horses ran another race before the final. That’s how the Little Brown Jug works. Two heats. Maybe three, if a horse other than the two winners of the first heats wins the final.
