The Knights of Iceland at KYWEG

The Knights of Iceland from Jeffrey Mark Barr on Vimeo showing some of their evening programs.

World titles may have been on the line in another part of the Kentucky Horse Park, but the Knights of Iceland drill team rocked the house in the Equine Village show ring during the 2010 World Equestrian Games.

Some of the Knights are from Iceland, including their leader, but they live in Kentucky now, according to the trainer and group leader Gudmar Petursson’s website.

I walked up while one of their demos was ending. I don’t know about you, but I don’t feel like I’ve been to a horse show if I don’t come home with dirt in my hair.

Two additional videos of the group’s exit are at my YouTube channel’s page. I like the above one because the team rides so close to my position at the rail. And I apologize for that screaming lady you hear. You heard the announcer telling everyone to holler.

FWIW, I didn’t shoot the next video you’ll see. From the angle of light and the brevity of the program, I’m guessing this is from the farewell performance on the last day of the games. Click here, in case the video embedded into the blog post doesn’t show.
