Just for fun  …

I’m a thoroughbred.

No — wait. I’m an Arabian.

No. I’m an Andalusian/Icelandic/Welsh mix.

I think I’m having an identity crisis.

Have you ever found one of those personality indicator quizzes waiting in your Inbox?

What we’ll discuss here, of course, are the online quizzes titled, “What breed of horse am I?”

Because there are many titled “What Breed … ?” And not just for horses, either, but for dogs and cats, too.

The way they work is, you answer some questions about your interests and habits.

Anything seems to go. You could get some horsey role playing questions like,  “Do you spook easily?”

Or a question could determine some champagne wishes, like asking, “What’s your favorite vacation?” Or “Do you prefer long walks on the beach or long movies in the theater?”

Although I’ve known some horses that would rather lounge around than take long walks anywhere, I’ve never seen any in the theater. Except for the miniature horse I saw on stage with Sam Waterston at Yale Rep in 2003.

But I digress. I did a search on “What breed of horse are you?” quiz. These are some of the quizzes I found.

Conveniently, the results come with widgets for adding to one’s website, so I’m able to post the results here.

Let’s check out the first one.

What breed of horse are you?

Your Result: Thoroughbred

Your fast, hyper and occasionally spookish, though with the right care can be very, very sweet. Your perfect for the race track because of your natural unfaltering speed and quick reflexes.

Dutch Warmblood
Welsh Pony
Appaloosa
Quarter Horse

This particular “natural for the racetrack” happens to be fat and slow. I’m not sure why the other breeds are listed, too. Did they place in the money? Or are they the also-rans?

Let’s see the results of another one:

Which horse breed are you??
Here’s my top result for this selector quiz by Kristin:
Andalusian

A series of simple “yes,” “no,” or “no opinion” questions sounded more like equine characteristics. Am I fast, slow, stocky?

But this one’s widget is a bit misleading. The full results included a bar graph in which mine had three bars of equal sizes.

Apparently, I’m really an Andalusian/Icelandic/Welsh combo. I’m trying to imagine the horse. I’m sensing a theme here as we end with short and then stocky (or, in the case of the Welsh pony, cobby.)

Let’s see what another one says:

What breed of horse are you? Find out!

Oooh … no more “short and stocky.” Cool.

You’ve probably noticed that the text on this widget is a bit teensy and difficult to read, so I’ll transcribe it. To add to your fun, my photo is in that column next to this on The Horsey Set Net website. Let’s see if it fits:

“You’re gorgeous and exotic and you know it. You won’t take any crap from anybody. for you know who’s at the top. You are. You don’t mind showing off a little. Hey, you like receiving envious looks.”

Um, I think we were closer with the Welsh cob.

The questions on this one alternated between horse-like thinking (“Your rider jabs you with spurs. What do you do?”) to Paris Hilton fantasies (“What cocktail are you drinking at your best friend’s party?”)

Am I supposed to think like a horse there? I didn’t see appletinis. I don’t think there’s a carrot liqueur. Although there is a recipe for carrot wine.

I have known horses that like a beer now and then, let alone the various soft drinks. But not a cocktail. Then, again, I could be surprised.

  1. I am an andalusian!
    My coat is white :)
    And I’ve done your tag!!!!

  2. Yay! (on being an Andalusian.) Thank you for having done my tag. And thanks again for linking to those beautiful photos on your blog.

  3. What a fun post! I tried the first quiz and came up as a thoroughbred and it followed with Quarter Horse, Dutch Warmblood, Appaloosa, Welsh Pony.

Me? Fast? Hyper? Unfaltering Speed? I don’t think so. My quickest reflexes come from grabbing the hamburger bag while cruising through the drive-thru.

Somewhere out there, there’s a quiz that says “short-legged, chunky, grey Percheron, prone to too much sweet feed and napping in the pasture”.

  4. That sounds like me, too, Jo. Those quizzes were fun.

  7. Cool! Wasn’t that quiz fun? Thanks for stopping by, Shannon.

  8. I took a different one and got Paint…for being unique and liking solitude. Can’t argue with that.

  9. Oh, that’s cool. Hey, I wanna be a paint, too, especially the way today has been going. =:-o Anyway, thanks for stopping by and saying “hi,” Madi.
