On Sunday night, Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner California Chrome went home to kisses, hugs and carrots at Los Alamitos Race Course.

We’ve seen his arrivals at Pimlico and Belmont Park, each with growing excitement and entourage, but the affection for him at Los Alamitos, among his everyday friends, almost doesn’t need a musical soundtrack.

  1. Makes me tear up every time I see this – especially when they applaud. My Chromey is my hero!

  2. Isn’t it great? Chromie’s one of the great ones. Even if he weren’t, I think these folks would love him all the same. Thanks for stopping by, Sally. Always a pleasure to hear from you.

  3. I agree Sally. This makes me tear up. This is the everyday routine and the people who see him all the time. I love this colt. He makes me smile and I can’t really tell you why.

  4. I can’t pinpoint it, either, Stacey. He’s pretty and a champion yet he’s also charming. You can see the intelligence and how he bonds with people. Plus, he’s got heart.

  5. Aw too sweet. :) Thanks for sharing the video!

  6. Thanks, Kourtney. I need to update this post with the one where he really goes HOME – to Harris Farms where he was bred. But my head’s in fiction right now, struggling with the revisions on the climactic action scenes that lead to the ending of the novel.
